Field Visit to Pichavaram

This site visit to Pichavaram gave an opportunity for the students to have a better understanding of the various site features like landscape, topography, climatic conditions, etc. that influence the design process. This acquired knowledge will significantly help them in improving their approaches towards their design.

Lecture on “Dwelling – Design + Space”

The lecture started with a series of visuals highlighting the evolution of dwelling units across the world and the basis of different spaces in response to varied contexts. She shared her research idea on the concept of dwelling that's understood as a part of one’s basic needs and considered private can be inferred as an urban element by intervening it in the context of time, place and user group.

4 Days Workshop on Google Sketch Up

The workshop gave the students a better understanding of software and students were able to use the sketch up tools in the design process. Students were also trained on the knowledge of sketch up as an effective presentation tool to explain their design concepts. The software training workshop was conducted in association with expert persons from the field.

Ramakrishnan embarked on the lecture with a theoretical approach to design highlighting the various Elements of Architecture and with a series of visuals and clarified the principles deployed in the design. Free Sketching Workshop for students aspiring to join B.Arch

The introductory session was followed by the sketching workshop where the basic principles of perspective drawing, sciography and rendering techniques were demonstrated. Drawing sheets and the required sketching equipments were distributed to students and the students practiced the techniques taught by the instructor.

Architect Shri.R. Vijendranath presented slides of stunning buildings featured in the movies in sequences and narrated how the built-form complimented the storyline by highlighting the most obvious features that a human mind captures without much effort. Additionally he elaborated the features of the building giving an technical outlook to the slides under deliberation.

Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry Field Visit

As Part of the CAAD’s Course Curriculum, Students visited the following places of Mahabalipuram – Five Rathas, Shore Temple, Arjuna’s Penance and Krishna’s Butter Ball. Practical experience made our Students to understand Pallava Temple Architecture.
