Architect A. S. Aravindh elaborately dealt with the aspects of Traditional values in Indian architecture deployed by Raj Rewal in his works. The speaker further highlighted the architectural vocabulary and the treatment of structure as an aesthetic element seen from Rewal’s architecture.
In this line of events architect Shri. Ravi Shankar (GIS Manager, EBOLA Outbreak and Response, World Health Organisation, HQ Geneva) and Architect. Amudha Ravi Shankar (Architect & Urban Planner) engaged in a dialogue with the students & sought their aspirations post eduction. They extended the discussion elaborating on the various “Niche Markets” where architecture education can a make diffirence.
The Council of Architecture and National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), New Delhi had organised a symposium titled “Ar.B.V.Doshi – A Retrospective” on 28.11.2014 at Conference Hall, NGMA, New Delhi. Prof.Vinodh Vijayakumar shared a dialogue with the legendary architect during the event.
The students further explored the use of clay in evolving fluid forms and thoroughly enjoyed the fruitful workshop with high-spirited delight. Art Studio Mr.Vinoth Kumar from CAAD co-ordinated the workshop and ensured the essentials in order and the effective participation of one and all.
Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design was awarded the ‘Best Architecture Institution 2014’ under the New Institution category. Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar received the award from Honorable Commissioner of Minorities Welfare Department Mr. A. Mohammed Aslam, I.A.S.
Students visited Dakshina Chitra to develop their live sketching skills perspective drawing as a part of the Art Studio programme. Students also took a walking tour in the premise along with the faculty to get acquainted to the construction methodologies and the building materials of the different vernacular architectural styles in the region.
CAAD students participated in various events of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Indian Institute of Architects (1964 – 2014) and Southern Regional Conference held on the 17th and 18th October 2014 at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandanambakkam, Chennai as part of extension learning.
Yoga expert, Senior resident teacher at the Tiruvannamalai Ashram of the Foundation for Self Knowledge Brahmachari Viswa Chaitanya deliverd the lecture on the topic “Time Management” to the staff and student fraternity at CAAD.The speaker introduced effective tools of time management to the students and staff of CAAD.
Ayudha Pooja and Diwali were celebrated at CAAD, in the true sprits of the festivals to embrace and promote multiculturalism within CAAD. All the students and staffs participated in the celebrations and shared lighter moments over causerie.
He shared his professional experience with the students of CAAD, motivating further inquiry on the topic of architecture education. Prof. Rajagopalan claried the definition of Architecture, the roles and responsibilities of an architect, the scope of the course and commended Chennai Academy for its initiative to provide quality education and excellent facilities for the students.
