As a part of academic curriculum, the second years made a comprehensive study of a rural settlement to create a holistic understanding of the socio – cultural, geographic, and economic aspects that shape the built environment.
Students were taken to a village SIRUKARUMBUR in Vellore district for on site documentation of the village in three phases.

Students got exposure to the methodology of conducting various surveys covering physical, visual characteristics and socio economic aspects. They were able to understand the vernacular and traditional architecture involving local building materials and construction techniques.
