As incessant rains have hit the people of Chennai severely, freebus services were in operation for the flood-hit people from various parts of the Chennai as part of CAAD – Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design Community Outreach Program.
The student batch of 2015 visited two villages in Pollachi, Coimbatore during January 2017 as part of their Rural Settlement Study, to study, document and analyse the built environment and settlement patterns.
Students got exposure to the methodology of conducting various surveys covering physical, visual characteristics and socio economic aspects. They were able to understand the vernacular and traditional architecture involving local building materials and construction techniques.
As Part of the CAAD’s course curriculum, Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design’s students visited the Cholamandal Artists’ Village to do a case study on artist’s residences on 26th February 2015.
