Lecture on “Emerging Scenarios, Evolving Typologies, Crafting Lifestyles”

Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design (CAAD), is a stand alone Architecture Institution near Periyapalayam Amman Temple offering B.Arch degree. A series of workshops are conducted at CAAD for experiential learning and eminent speakers and professionals in the field of architecture are invited to address the students constantly bridging the gap between the architecture education and the field expectations of the profession.

In this line of events the renowned Architect Shri. M. S. Selvakumar (Director, RUHI Design, Atelier) delivered a talk titled “Emerging Scenarios, Evolving Typologies, Crafting Lifestyles ” on 27th January 2015.

Mr.Selvakumar introduced the exemplary large scale projects dealt by him in the practice. He spoke about the projects from the concept sketches of internationally acclaimed architects through its various stages of construction to completion. The speaker reiterated the need of various tools of expression that the students should develop during the design stage to convey their ideas such as the free hand sketches, concept models, 3d renderings and encouraged the students to strengthen the requisite skills for the same. Mr.Selva presented the challenges at site while implementing the large scale projects and explained the design decisions that were adopted to further the project without compromising the design intent. He deliberated on the advanced technologies deployed in the projects and also the huge quantum of services which make these projects functional

Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar, the Director of Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design outlined the lecture and formally invited the speaker to address the students.

The lecture concluded with a vibrant interaction session followed by refreshments and high tea. Mr. H. Karthiban Co-ordinator of lecture series presented the vote of thanks.
