As Part of the CAAD’s course curriculum, Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design’s students visited the Cholamandal Artists’ Village to do a case study on artist’s residences on 26th February 2015
Students visited Dakshina Chitra to develop their live sketching skills perspective drawing as a part of the Art Studio programme. Students also took a walking tour in the premise along with the faculty to get acquainted to the construction methodologies and the building materials of the different vernacular architectural styles in the region.
The student batch of 2015 visited two villages in Pollachi, Coimbatore during January 2017 as part of their Rural Settlement Study, to study, document and analyse the built environment and settlement patterns.
Students got exposure to the methodology of conducting various surveys covering physical, visual characteristics and socio economic aspects. They were able to understand the vernacular and traditional architecture involving local building materials and construction techniques.
