In this line of events the renowned Urban Planner Shri. Ananda Ranjana Doss (Chaiman, The Institute of Town Planners, India (TN Chapter) and Former Chief Planner, The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority) delivered a talk titled “Role of Architecture in Shaping Cities” on 30th January 2015.

Shri Ananda Ranjana Doss deliberated on Town Planning as a discipline of study and how it has been studied synonymous with civilizations through the ages. He further highlighted the vital role of Architecture in creating an identity for a city. In his lecture Mr.Doss humorously recalled the lifestyles of architects who have been a part of his 50 year long career and lauded their creative abilities in giving shape to various large scale planning proposals at the city level. The speaker shared numerous issues pertaining to planning which can be addressed by buildings designed with a sense of responsibility towards the society, and sensitivity to the site. Mr.Doss enlightened the students about the about the various skills they develop in their course of study which enables them to be successful in the field of town planning.

Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar, the Director of Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design outlined the lecture and formally invited the speaker to address the students.

Mr. H. Karthiban Co-ordinator of lecture series presented the vote of thanks and educative session concluded with lunch for all participants.
