The commencement function of academic year 2016-17 was organized at the state of the art CAAD Thumbakkam campus on August 10th, 2016 in the august presence of Kollimalai Thuraiyur Arapani semmal Arulvakku sithar Shri Janakiram Swamigal, Mawlawi S N Jaaffar Saadhik Baaqavi, Imam, Jumma Mosque and Reverend Fr.S.Arulappan, Santhome Church, Mylapore, Chennai. Prof. Dr.D.Vishwanathan, former Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
The program started with offering prayers to the almighty and spiritually ensured the divine presence with the lighting of ‘kuthuvilaku’ by chief guest and the faculty.
Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar, Director, CAAD, welcomed the dignitaries and shared the achievements of CAAD since its inception. Successful completion of 19 Lecture series ever since its inception, taking the students to Putrajaya, Malaysia as a part of Studio Abroad Program, Shifting to newly designed campus, few of the milestone achievements in the paths of CAAD was shared with the attendees in his welcome note.
Prof. Dr.V.R. Rajendran, Vice Chancellor, Vinayaka Missions University, addressed the gathering with an invigorating speech. He also felicitated the chief guests and addressed the students with his thought provoking words.
The chief Guest Dr.D.Vishwanathan addressed the gathering and motivated the students on the importance of disciplined behavior inside academic zones and the role of institution in creating socially responsible citizens.
Thavathiru Shri Janakiram Swamigal, Mawlawi S N Jaaffar Saadhik Baaqavi and Rev. Fr.S.Arulappan, enlightened the young minds with the morals and virtues to be upheld in their student life also a secular state of mind with students and offered their blessings to the students for a halcyon future.
Mrs.Roopa Rajendran, Chairman CAAD, Dr.V.R. Ratish Rajendran, trustee of CAAD also graced the function and conveyed their commitment to make CAAD an institution of repute and wished the new batch of students a grand success.
The Chief Guest released ‘CAAD ARCHITECTURAL JOURNAL’ – a bimestrial journal on this occassion and the first issue was received by Thavathiru Shri janakiram Swamigal and appreciated the team for bringing out an architectural journal for the first time in entire state.
The Chief Guest and the special invitees gave away the awards to CAAD students who have academically excelled in the Anna University examinations in the past semesters and congratulated them to achieve greater heights.
The ceremony concluded with National Anthem and ended formally with lunch. The new batch of students was taken to the Rajamannaraiyah hall within the CAAD premise for an Orientation lecture on the academic curriculum of Anna University which is the Affliating University. The faculty members introduced the academic regulations and norms were explained to them.
The event was well attended by all CAAD students and their parents , faculties, members of the advisory board and guests. The ceremonious function had an overwhelming response among the gathering and in overall the event is one of an important page in the history of CAAD.
