The student batch of 2015 visited two villages in Pollachi, Coimbatore during January 2017 as part of their Rural Settlement Study, to study, document and analyse the built environment and settlement patterns.
As Part of the CAAD’s Course Curriculum, Students visited the following places of Mahabalipuram – Five Rathas, Shore Temple, Arjuna’s Penance and Krishna’s Butter Ball. Practical experience made our Students to understand Pallava Temple Architecture.
On 25 Nov 2016, at the ending of the semester, all the faculty members enjoyed a recreational visit to Chokhi Dhani, a themed resort on the outskirts of Chennai. The place showcased the experience of Rajasthan brought down south, with regional food, folk arts and performing arts presented to their visitors.
The entire study was divided into 2 sessions. On site, the students studied the building thoroughly by measuring it and preparing various sketches. The second session focused on the importance of documentation where the students translated the sketches done on site in the form of floor plans, elevations, sections, details, etc.,
