Second Year Students Site Visit
As a part of second year 4th Semester curriculum students visited CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Tharamani, Chennai on 4th March 2016 to gain knowledge about the innovative building materials and construction techniques on different components of buildings developed by the research organizations.

Workshop on Conservation of Heritage Building through Documentation
Architect A. Arul briefed the students about documentation, its importance and methods of handling the surveying equipments. He explained the documentation process through sheets and videos. He presented few of his documentation sheets and focused on the details in the buildings.

Workshop on “Architectural Model making”
Professional model maker Mr. Deivam Deva conducted the workshop. He introduced various materials that can be used for model making explaining the properties of each material. Tools and techniques of using each material were also demonstrated to the students.

4 Days Workshop on Google Sketch Up
The workshop gave the students a better understanding of software and students were able to use the sketch up tools in the design process. Students were also trained on the knowledge of sketch up as an effective presentation tool to explain their design concepts. The software training workshop was conducted in association with expert persons from the field.
