SMART CITIES By Prof. DEBASHIS SANYAL
On March 30, 2018, CAAD- Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design hosted their 33rd CAAD Lecture titled “Smart Cities” by Prof. Debashis Sanyal, who is an Associate Professor with National Institute of Technology, Raipur. The speaker discussed the the mega-cities of India with the students and outlined the scope, needs and challenges involved in creating smart cities catering to growing India’s future urban infrastructural requirements.
The lecture spanned the various aspects of designing and adapting a smart city- detailing the methods of applying people-centric smart planning, smart infrastructure, smart transportation acclimatized to varying traffic, energy management measures, as well as addressing security , weather and sustainability concerns.
The lecture was presided over by Prof. Vineet Shrivastava from Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design, CAAD Chairman Prof. DR. V.R. Rajendran, CAAD Director Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar and CAAD Principal Prof. M C Ramesh Kumar.
INAGURATION OF STUDENTS HOSTEL
On March 30, 2018, CAAD- Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design inaugurated a new hostel block at their campus in Thumbakkam. Prof. Debashis Sanyal from National Institute of Technology, Raipur and Prof. Vineet Shrivastava from Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design, Gujarat cut the ribbon in the opening ceremony and wished the CAAD fraternity good luck in their forthcoming academic ventures.
The event was presided over by Prof. Vineet Shrivastava from Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design, CAAD Chairman Prof. DR. V.R. Rajendran, CAAD Director Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar and CAAD Principal Prof. M C Ramesh Kumar.
