Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design (CAAD), is a stand alone Architecture Institution near Periyapalayam Amman Temple offering B.Arch degree. A series of workshops are conducted at CAAD for experiential learning. Alongside eminent speakers and professionals in the field of architecture are invited to address the students, constantly bridging the gap between the architecture education and the field expectations of the profession.

In this line of events architect Shri. Ravi Shankar (GIS Manager, EBOLA Outbreak and Response, World Health Organisation, HQ Geneva) and Architect. Amudha Ravi Shankar (Architect & Urban Planner) engaged in a dialogue with the students & sought their aspirations post eduction. They extended the discussion elaborating on the various “Niche Markets” where architecture education can a make diffirence. They also shared their professional as well as personal experiences in carving a unique career after a formal architecture education.

Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar, the Director of Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design outlined the lecture and formally invited the speaker to address the students.

The talk came to a closure with a very interactive session between the students, faculty members of CAAD and the speaker inquiring in depth about the lecture. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Co-ordinator of lecture series Mr. Karthiban refreshments and high tea.

Mr.Selvakumar presented the challenges at site while implementing the large scale projects and explained the design decisions that were adopted to further the project without compromising the design intent. He deliberated on the advanced technologies deployed in the projects and also the huge quantum of services which make these projects functional.
