Chennai Academy of Architecture and Design (CAAD), is a stand alone Architecture Institution offering B.Arch degree. The college is located near Periapalayam Amman Temple, Chennai.

On a monthly basis CAAD conducts lectures by experts in topics for academic enrichment and also in allied fields which are required to mould the students into distinguished professionals. The lecture on the topic “Time Management” was successfully conducted on 15th October 2014.

The lecture series had a grand beginning by a welcome adress by the Director of the Institution Prof. Vinodh Vijayakumar. The Lecture was conducted at the Rajamannaraiah Hall at CAAD premises in the presence the international guests Mr. Gavin Neilson from Central Institute of Technology, Western Australia, Alla Svyshcheva and Mr. Vlad Svyshehev from Ukraine.

Yoga expert, Senior resident teacher at the Tiruvannamalai Ashram of the Foundation for Self Knowledge Brahmachari Viswa Chaitanya deliverd the lecture on the topic “Time Management” to the staff and student fraternity at CAAD.The speaker introduced effective tools of time management to the students and staff of CAAD. He clarified the five different stages of time management as Planning, Setting Goals, Delegation, Monitoring and Prioritizing and provided vital inputs on each stage of action. He added that efficient management of time helps to reduce stress, boost productivity and reclaim personal life.

The lecture concluded with a vibrant interaction session followed by refreshments and high tea.Vote of thanks proposed byMr.H. Karthiban, the co-ordinator of the Lecture series. Chief Finance Officer Mr. Vijayendran and Admin Manager Mr.Murugan were also present along with the faculty members and students during the event.

The event was well covered in the media.The overall ambiance was grand and ceremonious and the event is a huge success.

Lecture on “Creating Opportunities for Green Careers”

Mr. Karthik Narayan, a LEED Accredited Professional, briefed the students about sustainable designing concepts like passive sustainable design, active design, wellness in buildings, life cycle analysis of buildings and LEED rating criteria. He also introduced the LEED Green Associate examination, its importance and the courses offered by EN3 Sustainability Solutions to prepare for the certification.

Lecture on “Decoding Architecture Critique”on 22nd December 2015

He deliberated on the difference between subjectivity and objectivity and thereby ascertained the importance of understanding the design briefs for every given exercise. The need for a sensitive approach to design keeping in mind the context was also probed. He explained the need for understanding the design vocabulary for effectively communicating design ideas.
