Intra College Competition
On the occasion of Teacher’s day, Independence Day and Madras Day, a series of themed events were organized at CAAD. Students took part in elocution and poster-making competition based on the themes and presented their views about teacher-student dynamics in a debate.
Independence Day celebration at CAAD on 15th August 2016
The Celebration Ceremony of 70th Independence Day was jubilated in the premises of CAAD on 15th August 2016. Prof Vinodh Vijayakumar, Director, CAAD hoisted our National Flag and rendered his honor to the flag and our country's independence. Sweets were distributed to all participants. The ceremony was attended by the faculty members, students and the college administration team. The event concluded informally with various game events for students and faculty.
Commencement Function of Academic Year 2016 – 2017
The commencement function of academic year 2016-17 was organized at the state of the art CAAD Thumbakkam campus on August 10th, 2016 in the august presence of Kollimalai Thuraiyur Arapani semmal Arulvakku sithar Shri Janakiram Swamigal, Mawlawi S N Jaaffar Saadhik Baaqavi, Imam, Jumma Mosque and Reverend Fr.S.Arulappan, Santhome Church, Mylapore, Chennai. Prof. Dr.D.Vishwanathan, former Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
Lecture on “Perception, Process and Recitation in Architecture”
Ar B V Murthy started the lecture on highlighting the role of architects, which is not only bringing beauty to the spaces but also giving meaning to the built form. He continued the lecture by taking us through a series of his significant projects that were built, on-going and also on few entries for design competition. Through his projects, he explained the students on various processes from conceptualisation to realization.
Commencement function of the Semester Classes at the Air Conditioned Seminar Hall of CAAD
The commencement function for the Odd Semester classes at CAAD was organized on the 11th July 2016 after an intensive design workshop which happened the earlier week. The event was held in the Air Conditioned Seminar hall of CAAD.
The function was held in the august presence of the Chairman, Smt. Roopa Rajendran and Prof. Dr. V. R. Rajendran and the event commenced ceremoniously with Pooja and lighting of Dheepam by all the faculty members of CAAD along with the chairperson.

To drift along the regular academic curriculum and to ensure a positive state of mind in approaching one’s life, CAAD has initiated an exclusive session titled, ‘The Skills Enhancement Program’ for students , that happens on a regular basis.
Lecture on “Confluence in Conflict” by Shri. Sridhar Lakshmanan
The session started with an interaction with the students about their idea of heritage and heritage value and the understanding of tangible and intangible spaces. She also focused on why It is important to understand our own heritage and how this can be extended in the process of architectural design.
Second Year Students Site Visit
As a part of second year 4th Semester curriculum students visited CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Tharamani, Chennai on 4th March 2016 to gain knowledge about the innovative building materials and construction techniques on different components of buildings developed by the research organizations.
